History
Legendary craftsmanship that started with single nut.
After achieving great success in Japan and Europe, the BMAC premiere brand finally comes to North America. Shigeru Kogyo Co. of Niigata, Japan, (BMAC) holds the largest market share of hair shears through its various brand names, more than half of all hair designers in Japan have been using and appreciating scissors made by Shigeru Kogyo Co. and BMAC.
Through countless hours of trial and error, the BMAC company strives to perfect
this simple structure and its functionality to create a beautiful end result. BMAC's
goal is to extend our vision to all hair designers, so that they can share this vision
through the medium of our shears.
Shigeru Fujita, founder of Shigeru Kogyo Co. Ltd., (parent company of BMAC Co.), thought that the manufactre of a nut was a simple matter, but found the necessity to relentlessly research heat-treatment, dyes, and materials.
In 1975 Mr. Fujita established Shigeru Kogyo Co. Ltd.
and in 1981, he began manufacturing shears for hair designers. These shears were called
the "Ultimate Blades" for their precision and durability, Mr.
Fujita challenged the limits of uncompromising craftsmanship by developing machining tools,
unique mechanisms, and exquisite shear designs. Mr. Fujita grew the company into a manufacturer
specializing in shears for hair designers, and garnered the top market share in Japan.
in 2002 Mr. Fujita founded Mac Co. Ltd. and perfected the ideas and know-how that he cultivated over many years and released the first full-fledged original brand "BMAC."
Superb quality produced with pride by superior craftsmen
Knowing that the structure of shears is simple, the manufacturing process is very elaborate and
complex. BMAC depends on the manual sensitivity of craftsmen, who produce dyes from various
design prototype models. The majority of production is done at our ownplant
including welding, punching, tempering, polishing, and sharpening so that the highest
level of quality can always be maintained.
30 craftsmen are involved in producing one pair of shears, performing over 100 manufacturing steps.Specialized equipment developed by our company is used in the majority of the manufacturing process. The skilled eyes and hands of craftsmen are an indispensable asset in such final stages of development such as polishing the blades and finger holes, this is BMAC craftsmenship.
True beauty is only balanced by the pursuit of functionality, only then can we achieve true beauty.
"True beaty is not to be found in designs made just for decoration."
Take for example the finger holes, at BMAC, we thoroughly polish the finger holes and form them in
an exquisite curve so that they shine just like a luxurious accessory.
at first it looks like this is done for aesthetics alone but actually this is what we refer to as
"true beauty". The by-product of this is now the shears fit easily and comfortably in the
hand, this is referred to as "functional beauty." We put true beauty into superb functionality
as stated in thr BMAC creed, "beauty is to be found on the other side of the pursuit of functionality."
We do not create products by imitating others.
We do not create products that can be imitated.
Two blades and a nut, such simple components yet they differ greatly in their functionality depending on the techniques employed by those who use them. The BMAC motto is never allow compromise in any components. "We do not make products by imitating other companies, we also do not make products that which other companies can imitate." These include a "spinning contact point" mechanism which has been registered as a Utility Model in Japan. The quality of the bearings are kept at the highest level in the world, and the materials used are the pinnacle of quality hard and wear-resistant fine stainless steel powder offered. The designs are all original with the highest precision achieved even on a micron level. BMAC will continue to make high-performance products with long useful lives thanks to its endless pusuit of originality, perfection, and unrivaled specifications.
